The objective of this product was to create a voting system in India which is trustworthy, secure and easily accessible for all senior citizens from any part of India. Creating a blockchain based mobile app is a revolutionary idea that would solve all the problems we have been facing including a high cost of rs 15000 crs in conducting the elections all over India every four years. We can bring this cost down substantially. Also one of the major benefits would be election can be done in just 1]one day and results can be declared same day or next day itself which will create more trust and transparency in the election process.
India Votes is a conceptual blockchain-powered voting platform that combines biometric authentication with decentralized technology to create a secure and transparent digital voting experience. The platform enables citizens to verify their identity, cast votes remotely, and maintain an immutable audit trail that can be independently verified without compromising voter privacy.
The project demonstrated how emerging technologies such as blockchain and biometric authentication could improve trust, transparency, and accessibility in democratic elections. While developed as a proof-of-concept, the solution explored practical ways to reduce election costs, accelerate result declaration, and expand participation for citizens who face barriers to in-person voting.
This was my capstone project for the IIT Hyderabad UI/UX Design program. I led the end-to-end product design process, including problem definition, secondary research, stakeholder mapping, user journeys, information architecture, interaction design, wireframing, high-fidelity UI design, branding, and interactive prototyping.
